Compliment of the season! As we enter 2024, I would like to thank you for being a part of The Creatives Note—as a subscriber/reader. A big thank you to everyone who shared their stories. And a special thank you to everyone who read and shared these stories.
Before we begin 2024, I would like to reflect a bit on 2023 and share some highlights from the year because a lot happened in the year. During the year, The Creatives Note evolved from what it originally started as 15 months ago.
For context, The Creatives Note started in 2022. The very first story was published on October 1, 2022. What this means is that 2023 was the first time The Creatives Note operated for a full calendar year.
I started 2023 with one goal: curate, document, and tell the stories of African creatives. Looking back, I can say we were able to do that and even more. During the year, the ‘goal’ expanded and evolved into “curating, documenting, and telling the stories of creativity in Africa.”
This expanded goal led to the announcement of TCN 2.0 in July. This change meant that The Creatives Note evolved from being “a publication that publishes stories of African creatives” to “a repository and go-to publication for all things relating to creativity in Africa ranging from interviews and conversations with creatives to important announcements and updates, opportunities, insights, resources, news, and stories.”
Thanks to you—our readers, we experienced growth and achieved some interesting milestones. With a total of 107 published stories consisting of interviews, news, opportunities, insights, and opinion pieces on creativity, the subscriber list grew by 400%+.
On visitors and page views, about 4,000 of you visited The Creatives Note leading to 12K+ page views—with 10K+ of these views coming in the second half of the year.
The Creatives Note social media channels—IG, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn—saw a 380%+ increase compared to 2022.

Looking Forward
Going into 2024, the mission remains the same: curate, document and tell stories of creativity (art, design, and film) in Africa. We have a few stories from 2023 that didn’t make it out, so we will continue from there. Therefore, expect more interesting interviews and conversations with creatives—individuals and teams across Africa.
Personally, I am looking forward to reporting more impactful stories and opportunities, curating important conversations, spotlighting platforms, products, and businesses solving problems in the African creative space, and covering more events for creatives—in art, design, and film.
