V&A Waterfront announces its 2023 Artist Alliance Programme [CLOSED]
This immersive programme offers practical experience, knowledge, & skills development in six disciplines: Fine Arts (Sculpture), Videography, Music Production, Illustration, Animation & Graphic Design
The Artist Alliance Programme is an incubation program aimed at celebrating and championing the richness of the talent, projects, and people that embody the creativity and resilience of South Africa.
For 30 years, the V&A Waterfront has been a strong supporter of the arts in Cape Town, celebrating the creativity and resilience of South Africa, with initiatives such as Art In Public Places, Joy from Africa and Take the Stage. In its announcement of the programme, it expressed that;
“The V&A Waterfront Artist Alliance programme was conceptualised on the belief that creatives who LIVE their ART deserve to BE HEARD. This immersive programme offers practical experience, knowledge, and skills development in six disciplines: Fine Arts (Sculpture), Videography, Music Production, Illustration, Animation and Graphic Design. With guidance from six influential industry leaders, selected incubatees will receive mentorship tailored to their discipline and expertise. Unleash your creativity, and seize the opportunity to nurture your artistic talents and join our creative neighbourhood community.”
The announcement also introduced the 2023 Artist Alliance Ambassadors: Mbhali Manzini, Nqaba “Shakes” Mbolekwana, and Richard Average expressing that;
“These exceptional creatives were part of our inaugural cohort in 2021 and have collaborated with the V&A on various projects since their graduation. Their talents and contributions exemplify the magic of artistic collaboration and innovation.”
The programme is scheduled to start in the first week of October 2023 and run until 30 November 2023.
