Africa-focused tech publication Bendada.com rebrands as Condia
"While the name Bendada served us well, we’ve spent most of this year pondering where we’re headed as a publication. It no longer reflected our growth and ambition," the publication noted
Last month, Bendada.com, an Africa-focused tech publication named after its founder Benjamin Dada, a former solo creator turned media entrepreneur, announced it is rebranding as Condia in a bid to reflect its growth and ambition.
“Today’s a big day as we change our name from Bendada.com to Condia,” the announcement noted. “We’ve been hard at work on a new brand identity, and we’re excited to share it with you.”
Bendada.com, initially Benjamindada.com, was founded six years ago when its founder Benjamin Dada started a tech blog mirroring Africa's growing ecosystem. “Today, we're a global publication with 100,000+ monthly readers,” it stated in its announcement. “While the name Bendada served us well, we’ve spent most of this year pondering where we’re headed as a publication. It no longer reflected our growth and ambition.”
According to Dada, the plan for the publication, which emerged from his desire to improve the quality of tech reporting regarding the African continent, has always been to change the name if “we made it past the five-year mark, a milestone where half of new businesses fail.”

For the new name, “we wanted a one-word name embodying our mission: connecting innovators to the best ideas on technology,” the publication noted. “Condia = Convergence + Ideas. Simple, yet powerful!”
“While we've grown in our coverage and capabilities, we're excited about the even greater potential that lies ahead,” it shared.
The publication, which claims thousands of ambitious innovators, professionals, and investors rely on its content to make critical decisions, says it is doubling down on making its publication a spot where the best ideas converge.
“Condia goes beyond simply reporting the news. The new brand signifies a comprehensive platform offering users: Compelling Stories: In-depth analysis of operators, companies, internet culture, and emerging trends,” it shared. “Actionable Insights: Comprehensive reports to equip readers with a deeper understanding of the African tech landscape.
“Fostering Collaboration: Events, tools, and resources to facilitate connections and partnerships within the African tech community.”

The publication notes that while it has a new name, brand, website, and editorial focus, “our values remain: Accurate reporting, Human-centered storytelling, and Giving value.”
