Abuja Photo Festival returns for its 2024 edition this October
With the theme, ‘Rhythm of Resilience,’ this year’s edition of Abuja Photo Festival, which brings together photographers, artists, and enthusiasts, will hold from October 21st to 26th, 2024.
Abuja Photo Festival, an annual event founded for the art community and general public to interact with art as a tool for social change, is set to return for its 8th edition this October.
Organised by Art for Humanity Foundation Nigeria, the annual photo festival, which brings together photographers, artists, and enthusiasts from around the world to showcase their creativity and perspectives, is “a platform for discovery of early years talents in photography, strengthening their visual voice and empowering them to amplify stories worth telling,” it says.
Over the years, the festival has served as a platform to gain knowledge, showcase talents, exhibit works, and prompt interactions, conversations and actions pertaining to moving forward the photography, art, and creative communities.

Since its inception in 2017, the festival has presented art as a critical part of social evolution with the power to prompt conversations and move into spaces beyond the borders of biases and stereotypes. “Abuja Photo Festival is designed to create an artistic dialogue between the capital city of the most populous black nation and the rest of the world. It aims to connect the international audience to indigenous art that highlights the existential realities of the modern world through local eyes,” it notes.
According to the organiser, over 10,000 visitors have visited the various locations of the festival for the exhibition and workshops during the previous editions. “The festival has featured works from artistic movements such Expressionism and Futurism and brilliant individualists such as George Osodi, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Don Barber, Aisha Augie-Kuta, Reze Bonna, Anita Eboigbe, Hakeem Salaam, Nelly Ating, Yagazie Eguare has graced its podium,” it stated.
With the theme, ‘Rhythm of Resilience,’ this year’s festival will feature diverse exhibitions, photo walks, masterclasses, interactive workshops, portfolio review, and engaging panel discussions, fostering a platform for dialogue on the power of images in shaping narratives and promoting cultural exchange, from October 21st to 26th, 2024. “With both physical and virtual components, the festival aims to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary photography while encouraging innovation and collaboration within the global creative community,” it noted.
