Design Week Lagos returns this October for the 2024 edition of its annual festival
From October 23rd to 27th, 2024 at Livespot Entertainment Center, 4 Oba Elegushi Beach Road Lekki, this year’s Design Week Lagos will explore the theme, ‘The Role of Design in Economic Evolution.’
Design Week Lagos (DWL), one of the most prominent international design festivals in Africa, has confirmed it will return this October for the 2024 edition of its annual festival.
Design Week Lagos (DWL), which calls itself the leading design week on the African continent, “was conceived to present and celebrate the best in contemporary African design across categories while bringing international field leaders and visitors to experience the most exciting work from the region and putting design from Africa onto the global map.”
Since its inception in 2019, the festival has partnered with over 250 events throughout the city, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and contemporary design practices of the region. “As one of the most prominent international festivals in Africa, Design Week Lagos is dedicated to promoting the social and economic value of architecture, interior design, product design, furniture design, and industrial design,” it notes.

DWL says the festival drives meaningful engagement by extending the reach of African design to a global audience. “In its role as a talent incubator, Design Week Lagos has served as a launchpad and development platform for numerous successful careers in design,” it says. “Through its extensive festival programming and initiatives, including thought leadership talks, workshops, and exhibitions, Design Week Lagos celebrates design excellence and fosters a vibrant community of creative professionals and enthusiasts.
Some of the core programs of DWL include The Design and Innovation Exhibition—a groundbreaking platform dedicated to showcasing the creativity and ingenuity of African designers, The Innovation Design Excellence Awards—Nigeria’s largest and most successful independent design awards program, celebrating the best of architecture, interiors, product design, furniture design, innovation, technology, and new talent, The Made by Design Marketplace—a marketplace that features a curated selection of locally-made furniture and decor items that capture the essence of Nigerian culture and heritage, Design Week Lagos Talks—a series of talks and lectures, and The DWL Students’ Competition—a prestigious national contest that challenges architecture and interior design students to showcase their creativity and innovation.
