The Lagosian Times is set to host Lagos Creators’ Week this July. This edition of The Lagos Creators’ Week which is the maiden edition of this city-wide celebration of creators in Nigeria is scheduled to happen between Monday 24th - Sunday 30th July 2023.
In a recent announcement, Lagos Creators’ Week announced KUKOYI, a seasoned international curator of African Arts & Culture as the official Creator-in-Chief for its inaugural edition of LAGOS CREATORS’ WEEK. KUKOYI is said to “bring a wealth of knowledge and a keen eye for innovation, ensuring an unforgettable showcase of artistic brilliance and groundbreaking creativity. His involvement promises to provide a much-needed springboard for Lagos Creators.”
In his official letter to creators, KUKOYI wrote;
“I consider it to be an honor of a lifetime to be graced with this rare responsibility of Curating the world's first City-led Creator's Week alongside a handful of other Nigerian Creators that I deeply respect and admire. Creators are so vital to the world, and it's time everyone saw just how much.
I must confess when this project first came across my desk a few months ago, I shuddered not only at the weight of the title 'Creator-in-Chief' but also at the weight of this significant milestone for ALL Nigerian Creators. But, like you, Dear Creator, I looked myself in the mirror, dead in the eye, and chose to rise to the occasion of our collective becoming.”
Following the announcement of KUKOYI as the official Creator-in-Chief, Lagos Creators’ Week also announced the official selection for the 2023 Creators Council “comprising of four distinguished individuals carefully chosen based on their exceptional qualities and contributions to the creative community.” The 2023 Creators Council consists of Adaora Lumina, Anny Robert, Nonye Udeogu, and Adnan Khalid as members. Announcing the members of the council, LCW stated, “The selection process for the Creators Council took into account four key criteria: Character, Community Impact, Resilience, and Entrepreneurial Drive.”
Following the announcement of the Lagos Creators Week, over 2000 creators have registered to convene at Africa’s largest convergence of Artists, Filmmakers, Influencers, Techies, Storytellers, Choreographers, Songwriters, Vloggers, and Mavericks in Lagos!
