Osun State gets a new logo; winner of the logo competition emerges
The new Osun State logo contains 8 key elements: Rays of Light, Ori Olokun, Mountain, Gold Bars, 31 Stars, River, Fertile Farm Land, and Cocoa Fruit.
Last week, the Osun State Government revealed a new logo for the state, following the emergence of a winner in a logo design competition ordered by the Governor.
Recall that last month, the Governor of the state ordered a logo design competition for a fresh logo after a new logo he assented to received public bashing.
“Following his assent to a bill for change of Osun State logo, Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the holding of a logo crafting competition to hold between April 19th and 26th,” the announcement for the logo competition stated.
According to the statement, inspiration for the new logo should be taken from the publicly bashed logo.
After it closed submission, the State Government named a panel of judges - made up of veteran broadcaster, Olusola Ajala; brand specialist, Dayo Oderinu; senior bureaucrat, Moshood Suleiman; Segun Yedupe; and ace graphic artist, Kazeem Olalekan - to review the entries and nominate the first top three from the over hundred submissions.
“The next step is a review of all entries by the panel of judges, after which the best three designs will be unveiled by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, on the 30th of April, 2024,” the statement noted.

The New Osun State Logo
The new Osun State logo, designed by Mogaji Bolaji Abdullah, contains 8 key elements: Rays of Light, Ori Olokun, Mountain, Gold Bars, 31 Stars, River, Fertile Farm Land, and Cocoa Fruit.
Speaking about the process, Dayo Oderinu, a brand specialist who was a part of the panel of judges, wrote, “Government did not for a minute, interfere with the selection of a 5-design shortlist that the committee presented to the Governor for his final selection. I honestly give kudos to them on this.”
He added, “The final selection is one of the 5 designs that stood shoulders high above the rest of the over 300 designs that the committee reviewed. I personally reviewed every single one of them, one after another, and those five are miles ahead on many fronts.”
