Nigerian artist Lola Mewu will attempt to break the record for the longest painting marathon from October 28-30, 2023.
Following approval from Guinness World Records, the global authority on all things record-breaking, Lola Mewu, a Nigerian artist will attempt to break the record for the longest painting marathon this weekend — Saturday, October 28, 2023, to Monday, October 30, 2023.
Earlier in June, Lola shared the approval email from GWR on social media. She wrote;
“I'm thrilled to announce that Guinness World Records has given me the green light for the longest painting marathon! On October 28-30, 2023, I'll embark on an incredible journey of creativity and endurance.”
“Join me in breaking boundaries, unleashing imagination, and setting a new record!
“But I can't do it alone. I'm seeking sponsors to help make this historic event possible. By supporting me, you'll not only be part of a record-breaking achievement, but also contribute to the promotion of art and creativity worldwide.
“Let's paint a vibrant future together!”
Lola, who completed a law degree in 2015, decided to pursue a career in art. While she originally started out pursuing makeup artistry incorporated with face painting, she has grown to become a multidisciplinary artist expressing her art and creativity through various mediums and platforms.
Over the course of this weekend, Lola will attempt to break the current 60 hours record by Roland Palmaerts — which was set in October 2013 to celebrate his 60th birthday in Arches (France).
The marathon painting event will take place in Lagos at Kairos Media Hub, The Ford Center, 94 Providence Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos Island.
