Lagos International Festival of Animation (LIFANIMA) to host the 7th edition of its festival from October 31st to November 2nd
The festival will be held from October 31 to November 2, 2023, and will feature Screening of Selected Works, Award Presentation, Networking, and Entertainment, and will attract Animators worldwide.
Lagos International Festival of Animation (LIFANIMA), one of Africa’s biggest animation festivals hosted in Lagos, has announced that the 7th edition of the festival will be held from October 31st to November 2nd, 2023.
Established in 2017, the festival says it has grown to become the second-largest animation film festival in Africa as it “provides a platform for animators to interact with other stakeholders for optimum value creation and rapid growth of the animation industry.”
LIFANIMA, presented in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Embassy of France in Nigeria, and the Bank of Industry is endorsed by the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, LSFVCB.
Following the close of submission for this year’s edition of the festival, USP Brand Management, the organisers of LIFANIMA, revealed that it got a total of 1088 entries from 111 countries, including 24 African countries with this being the highest participation of African countries since the festival started. “The top five countries with the highest number of entries are the United States, United Kingdom, Nigeria, India, and Brazil. In the various categories, 2D Animation recorded the highest number of entries with 637 submissions,” it disclosed in its announcement.
LIFANIMA 2023
For this year’s edition of the festival, LIFANIMA will be held from Tuesday, October 31st to Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, at Alliance Francaise, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi Lagos.
“A new addition to the festival this year is an animation workshop specially designed for aspiring animators currently undergoing training,” it revealed. Animation specialists and consultants will be on hand to facilitate the workshop. It added, “Over the years, LIFANIMA has seen a steady increase in submission of films across the categories of 2D animation, 3D animation, Animation commercials, Visual effects, and Stop Motion which was added in 2021.”
The festival will feature Screening of Selected Works, Award Presentation, Networking, and Entertainment, and will attract Animators; local and foreign, Film makers, Investors, Financial Institutions, Advertising agencies, Musical Video Producers, Media Practitioners, Digital Marketing professionals, Government agencies, Information Technology companies/manufacturers and the general public.
