GOBELINS Paris reveals the six (6) beneficiaries of its 2023 GOBELINS/NETFLIX Master's Scholarship for African Animators

GOBELINS Paris, one of the world’s leading schools for visual arts based in Paris, in a press release revealed the six recipients of its 2023 GOBELINS/NETFLIX scholarship opportunity for African Animators.
The Creatives Note earlier reported Kelvin Shani bagged the scholarship following a public announcement from him.
The six recipients of the 2023 scholarship opportunity according to the announcement by GOBELINS Paris are Njolai PACHOMIUS, Kelvin SHANI, Kamohelo SALEMANE, Tshegofatso Tracy PITSENG, Noran FIKRI, and Daniela DEL CASTELLO.
Since 2019, Netflix Grow Creative and GOBELINS Paris has offered Master scholarships for students from the African continent as part of their joint efforts to increase the pipeline of new Animation talent in Africa. Per GOBELINS, 13 students from Ghana, Ethiopia, Benin, Uganda, Lesotho, and South Africa already benefited from this opportunity.

The six beneficiaries of the 2023 edition of the scholarship hail from Cameroon, Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa.

Noran FIKRI is an art director, illustrator, and traditional illustrator from Egypt.
“My ultimate goal is to be able to tell moving stories that can be seeds for change and hopefully inspire other women in the Egyptian animation industry.”
Njolai PACHOMIUS is a character concept artist and 3D generalist from Cameroon.
“This scholarship is not just a stepping stone; it’s a cornerstone of my commitment to shaping a more inclusive and enlightening world through the stories I tell.”
Kamohelo SALEMANE is a character designer and visual development artist from South Africa.
“What makes this opportunity even more profound is my burning desire to bring these newfound skills and knowledge back to South Africa.”

Daniela Del Castello is a 2D animator and character designer from South Africa.
“This scholarship empowers me not only to attain an education but to share narratives that deserve to be heard.”
Kelvin SHANI is an illustrator from Kenya.
“This scholarship is a stepping stone toward realizing my dreams, and I am committed to making the most of it.”
Tshegofatso Tracy PITSENG is a character designer & 2D animator from South Africa.
”I want to grow as an artist and hope to find my artistic identity too. My future goal after I complete my studies is to teach.”
They have been admitted to GOBELINS' Master of Arts in Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking program which will run for two years—till 2025.
