Batch collaborates with Tendril for its first community film project
"This film captures the essence of who we are at Batch—a community driven by a passion for animation, visual storytelling, and growth," it noted.
Batch, a community of young motion designers from all across Africa, united by a shared passion for animation and visual storytelling, has released a film introducing its community, marking an exciting new chapter in its story.
The film, which was made in collaboration with Tendril, a leading studio based in Toronto, debuted at its first community event. “Recently the artists from Batch and Tendril came together to create a film that introduces who we are at Batch,” it noted in its announcement. “Batch is more than a collective—it’s a journey, a place of growth, and a nurturing ground where creativity flourishes.”
It added, “This film captures the essence of who we are at Batch—a community driven by a passion for animation, visual storytelling, and growth.”
“The coin symbolises each member of Batch, representing individuals from diverse backgrounds, across geographical boundaries and with unique skill sets coming together to learn, grow and refine their talents,” it explained. “It reflects a collaborative community that shares a common dedication to excellence in design, whether it’s in 2D illustration, 3D animation, or other creative forms.”
It noted that “the Portal represents the transformative journey each member of Batch undertakes in their pursuit of design excellence and realizing their creative ambitions,” adding that “By inviting every collaborator to design their own version of the Portal, we celebrate the diversity within the team while highlighting our collective commitment to shared goals. This symbolises not only personal growth but also the unity and passion that drive Batch as a vibrant community of motion designers across Africa.”
Olamide Rowland, Founder of Batch wrote, “These past few weeks have been unreal. I got the chance to direct a project I’ve wanted to work on for years—in collaboration with Studio Tendril, a company that has always inspired my motion design career, and Batch Motion, the motion design community I’ve been building for the past two years.”
He added, “Going into this, I was excited but also nervous — It’s one thing to have a vision in your head, but it’s another to trust others to help you bring it to life.
“I quickly realised that leading a project like this meant learning to let go, trusting the team I was working with, and, most importantly, trusting myself.”

“By working together, each group contributed their unique strengths to shape the design and animation of the film. The collaborative process ensured that every aspect of the project was infused with diverse perspectives, making it not only inclusive but also a reflection of the collective creativity within both teams.”
