Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) returns for the 13th edition of its annual festival this November
This year’s AFRIFF is set to take place from November 3 to 9, 2024 at The Palms, Lekki Landmark Centre, VI, Lagos, Nigeria, with the theme, “Indigenous to Global: Cultural Wealth to Global Prosperity"
Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), Africa's number 1 destination celebrating film & visual storytelling in Nigeria, is set to return for the 13th edition of its annual festival this November.
According to the announcement, this year’s edition of AFRIFF will build on the triumphs of previous editions and promises to be an even more exhilarating and impactful event. “The festival will continue to showcase the best of African cinema, featuring a diverse selection of films from across the continent and the diaspora,” it noted. “The program will encompass feature films, documentaries, short films, and animation, ensuring a captivating experience for all.”

According to Chioma Ude, AFRIFF Founder and Festival Director, the festival will feature 150 films from across Africa and the Diaspora, complemented by keynote industry discussions and high-profile networking events. She also announced Michael W. Ndiomu's highly anticipated crime thriller, HEADLESS, as the official opening night film.
She remarked, “African filmmaking is evolving at an incredible pace, with Nigeria at the forefront of this renaissance. This year’s edition is designed to highlight the vast opportunities for African films and storytelling to stay true to its cultural wealth to reach global audiences. Through films like HEADLESS, we aim to inspire our storytellers to explore creative ideologies and techniques that connect with a global audience”
AFRIFF 2024 Highlights
Spotlight on Emerging Filmmakers: This program will shine a light on the work of promising filmmakers from across Africa, providing them with a platform to launch their careers and connect with industry professionals.
African Animation Showcase: This program will celebrate the budding animation industry in Africa, featuring a selection of innovative and visually stunning animated films.
Virtual Reality (VR) Experiences: AFRIFF 2024 will embrace cutting-edge technology by offering immersive VR experiences that transport viewers to new worlds and perspectives.
Industry Days: The festival will host a series of industry events, including workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, fostering collaboration and growth within the African film industry.
Script to Screen Project: In partnership with the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) through its Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) program, AFRIFF 2024 will continue to empower filmmakers and writers through this year-long incubator program.
