The Goethe-Institut Nigeria announces call for applications for Support and Connect 2024
The Support & Connect Initiative provides support for Nigerian artists in various art forms: music, contemporary dance, photography, films (documentary), theatre, visual arts, literature and many more
The Goethe-Institut Nigeria is accepting applications for the 2024 edition of its Support and Connect Initiative, a program through which it supports Nigerian solo artists, collectives, and cultural experts in implementing their projects.
It stated in the announcement, “For the past years, the Goethe-Institut Nigeria has supported a wide range of projects created and implemented by Nigerian artists and initiatives in various art forms: music, contemporary dance, photography, films (documentary), theatre, visual arts, literature and many more.”
“Goethe-Institut Nigeria also supports artists and cultural experts who are invited as participants to festivals or cultural projects in Germany or on the African continent but do not have enough funding to join,” it added. “We regard this support as a very crucial and important one to give young and upcoming artists in the cultural landscape of Nigeria a chance to be heard and seen.”
It revealed that the call is open for all artistic and cultural initiatives from all parts of the country and sectors.

According to the statement, this year, the Support and Connect initiative is supporting projects across three categories of entries:
Art and Culture Projects (up to 5,000 EUR each)
solo artists or collectives who have worked professionally (with at least 3 years of experience), and who want to organize an arts or cultural project in Nigeria.
the project idea has to be already developed and has reached a certain level of preparation.
the project has to be implemented during the year 2024 and latest be completed by December 10, 2024
only completely and correctly filled out application forms will be considered.
Art and Culture Festivals (up to 5.000 EUR each)
art and culture festivals taking place in Nigeria
the festival has to be at least in its third year
the festival has to be implemented during the year 2024 and latest be completed by December 10, 2024
only completely and correctly filled out application forms will be considered.
Art and Culture Travel Grant (up to 2.500 EUR each)
individuals who already received an official invitation to a cultural festival/event/project in Germany or in any African country.
The host organization in Germany/an African country has to be responsible for accommodation and other living expenses for the period of time you would be at the event.
The travel has to be during the year 2024 and latest completed by December 10, 2024
Only completely and correctly filled out application forms will be considered.

Passport photograph copy
An independent jury will select the projects until the end of February
Project implementation: 15, March – 10, December 2024
Submission of a project report: by end of January 2025
