Pro Helvetia announces open call for its 2025 residency program
The residency is open to artists and cultural practitioners in the fields of visual arts, design and interactive media, music, literature and performing arts and artists with a transdisciplinary focus
Pro Helvetia Johannesburg - an organisation promoting exchange and collaboration in the arts between Switzerland and Southern Africa + urban centres in East, Central, and West Africa - earlier announced that application for the annual Pro Helvetia Residency program is open.
According to Pro Helvetia, the program supports residencies of up to 3 months for artists and cultural practitioners from Southern, East, Central, and West Africa in Switzerland, and for their counterparts in Switzerland in these regions on the continent.
It stated, “The aim of the residency is to gain inspiration, establish networks, develop work, and explore new collaborations.”

The residency is open to artists and cultural practitioners in the fields of visual arts, design and interactive media, music, literature and performing arts, as well as arts practitioners with a transdisciplinary focus are eligible to apply, according to the announcement.
“Pro Helvetia provides accommodation, daily allowances, professional support, travel expenses, a contribution towards production and material costs (on request), and a workplace (on request),” it noted. “In addition, parents may apply for support to co-finance the organisation of childcare, at home or where the residency takes place.”
