“It’s hard to believe that we’re gearing up for the 12th edition of Lagos Comic Con! This journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride filled with ups, downs, and everything in between,” Ayodele Elegba, founder and convener of Lagos Comic Con, wrote. “As the convener, I’ve poured my heart and soul into bringing this incredible event to life each year.”
He continued; “One of the biggest challenges has been raising capital and finding sponsorship to make this annual extravaganza happen. There have been moments where I’ve had to dig deep, even borrowing money to ensure that Lagos Comic Con could continue to be the highlight of the creative calendar.
“But despite the hurdles, we’ve persisted. And now, I’m thrilled to announce this year’s theme: Creative Diversity. On the 14th of September, 2024, we’ll come together at the Landmark Event Centre Oniru, Lagos, to celebrate the rich tapestry of creativity that defines our community.
“It’s more than just a theme—it’s a call to action. We need to see more diversity in our creative spaces, welcoming voices from all backgrounds, genders, and abilities. It’s time to level the playing field and ensure that everyone has a seat at the table.”
This edition of LCC will feature keynote and panel sessions, workshops, master classes, presentations, movie screenings, exhibitions/sales, networking, interactive installations, games, awards, and competitions.
“Connect with industry professionals, enthusiasts, and creators alike as you explore the vibrant landscape of comics, gaming, and pop culture. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or just starting out, there's something for everyone at Lagos Comic Con,” it noted. “Lagos Comic Convention is more than just a gathering of fans – it's a celebration of creativity, self-expression, and the power of fandom to bring people together. Through workshops, panels, and competitions, we aim to inspire and empower cosplayers of all levels, helping them hone their craft and connect with others who share their passion.”
